The windows of heaven decided to make way for its tank on the eve of Valentine. Mrs Musa alighted from her Honda CR-V and hurriedly stepped into Eko hotels and Suites’ reception. She had a conference to attend and almost missed out because her driver was nowhere to be found when she was ready to leave the office. He came back Forty-five minutes after the conference must have commenced, telling her that one of the car’s tire needed to be gauged. The traffic from Ikoyi to Victoria Island on a Friday is always one that leaves your face cringed as they had encountered a lot of it on their way.
Despite the tiring journey, Mrs Musa made her way to the conference hall gracefully. She smiled when she realized the conference was still on and there were still a couple of items on the agenda she could benefit from. Two hours and thirty minutes after her arrival the conference ended. She participated in networking afterwards. During the networking session, she began calling her driver to drive the car to the entrance of the hotel. She wanted to get home early today, as she had promised her kids that she would be home before their bedtime. Recently, she has been so consumed with work and had very little time for her children. Her driver did not answer his phone. She gave him over twenty missed calls but no response from him. She called her secretary to call him and they both had the same story to tell. She needed to go home. More than that, she needed to know where her car was. She could always drive herself home. She sighed with relief as she remembered how she had always encouraged her husband to go with his spare car keys, in case his driver messed him up. Today was her day.
She called her secretary to reach out to her tracking company. If her car was within the hotel’s vicinity, she would just drive herself home. Her secretary reminded her that they had not renewed their trackers and she forwarded all the reminder emails that were sent to them about their tracker’s subscription to her. Mrs Musa was so depressed. She was lost as to what to do. She had always treated her tracking bill with levity. She had never considered it an important bill to be promptly handled. Now, she needed her tracker but her inability to fuel it with the required subscription is leaving her almost stranded here. She thanked her secretary and ended the call.
She could decide to get an Uber home but she needed to know where her car was at least. She left the conference hall first but she seemed to be the only one left from the conference, two hours after the conference had ended. She bit her lips, wishing she had renewed her subscription promptly. She vowed to herself to treat her tracking bills like her car maintenance bills. She settled for an Uber because she did not want to disappoint her kids. Her driver definitely has a lot of explaining to do.
