Mr. Makinde, a 45 years old Fleet Manager at Zoro’s Logistics had just gotten back from a fleet managers’ meeting that holds every Thursday at 3 pm. They meet to strategise on how to better their activities as managers. Today’s meeting ended with a call to action that they should consider forming a registered association to help build the commitment of members especially with Mr. Jegede’s attitude today. He could not take his mind off Mr. Jegede’s outburst as he walked into his office and sat behind his huge mahogany table. Mr. Jegede had walked out of the meeting, shouting on top of his voice about how the meetings have never been strategic. Makinde thought to himself how true these words could be.
They have always had many IT companies representatives in their meetings. These representatives try to convince them about using different technological devices to help enhance their operations but they had always agreed after these representatives leave that all these are schemes for them to lose their jobs or be less functional in it. He started out this meeting to encourage and share his knowledge of 25 years about fleet management with other fleet managers and there has been a lot of positive feedbacks since the commencement of the meeting. Mr. Jegede’s outburst made him have a rethink about the many technological devices that had been introduced to them. Mr. Jegede would not have suffered the good loss he did if he had installed the C-Protect, as introduced by one of the representatives. The truth hit him hard, “They really need the technical assistance they have been ignoring”. The society is indeed not very safe. Neither their management skills nor experience would not prevent a smash and grab or protect the vehicles and lives of their companies’ executives.
Makinde slouched on his seat, wishing he had evolved with time in his career path. He wished he had embraced technology has it came to his career path but he had been scared of being seen as irrelevant in the only career path he knows. He had suffered losses as a result of this action but he had always recovered one way or the other. He thought to himself, maybe he had only been lucky. Mr. Jegede would be facing some harsh judgment as a result of his opinionated acts. He wishes he had come to this realization sooner. He thought about how the goods would not have been stolen and how the driver would not have been injured, only if he had encouraged the use of C-Protect. He never knew that beyond the benefits it brings to their job, it is also a huge benefit to their health. Only if he had known.
